Photographer: Flor Garduño Flor Garduño's photo Nahaul Man is truly a masterpeice as it encomposses many photgraphic techniques as well as providing unseen commentary on native peoples. The dramatic shadow in the background and the directional light from the left of the frame is definitional chiaroscuro and makes this Nahaul man seem multidimensional in the art that he showcases as his head piece. Additionally, the blank face the man has shows the raw emotion and hardship he and his people have endured and the somber notion people face. Flor Garduño purposefully combines chiaroscuro with somber photos because the drama form the lighting contributed to the overall mood of the photo. Overall, this photo highlights the importance of lighting in photos and the effect it can have emotion.
