Artist Statement: When you see the color of the sky shift and things falling from the sky most people's first instinct might be to say that
it is snowing however in the reality of a Californian that's impossible, those two things can only mean one thing, lots
and lots of smoke and ash coating the sky from an even bigger fire. Fire, might be a natural part of our world but
with climate change fires, especially in California, fires have become bigger, more dangerous, and more common
than ever. This power fire has over our environment is a very tangible thing to grasp a Californian teen, we know that
when its fire season there is no room for even the slightest spark because it could become a definite part of history.
One way that being a Californian teen impacts this interpretation of the world this year is that we get to witness some
terrible but beautiful things and that will forever create a bond between our souls.
*I need to decide between the two below*
2020 Cinnamon Rolls. September 13th, 2020. Chula Vista, California. Photo: Xavier Millan.
Artist Statement: 2020 one of the most explosive years for the world of baking, with flour flying off the shelves, and yeast nowhere to be seen. Many teens in 2020 being stuck at home with the only form of education being distance learning there has been lots of free time to do whatever your heart desires, in this case, cinnamon rolls. This is a good description of 2020 for many teens because one of the biggest things teens have been able to do with not being bombarded with constant work 7 hours a day at school. This form of pass time is truly just a way for people to indulge in their own hard work instead of being defeated by their hard work at school.
