Kyle Thompson's Untitled demonstrates the power of photography as medium of expressing beauty and emotion. In this photo Kyle Thompson purposely included a field of red balloons across a river as form of frame around himself due to the balloons unordinary nature. These red balloons framing Kyle Thompson in the middle of a river standing nonchalantly in four piece suit appearing despondent are two item of the photo are culturally paradoxical. This due to balloons being associated with joy and excitement and the emotion Kyle Thompson shows is the opposite of this assumption help with balloons. This contradiction is further complicated with this photo being set in a river as a river is antithetical to both suits and balloons. These three contradicting elements of this photo ultimately create a photo where every competitive element comes together to emphasize a singular theme of appreciation of the world we live in even if it doesn't make sense.
